From an early age I had a passion for the arts including music, theater and video production. In 1988, I auditioned for Scarborough Faire, south of Dallas and began performing at Renaissance Faires throughout Texas. I discovered the folk harp in 1990 and this fascination led to a formal education in music composition, and harp performance. I continued to perform at Renaissance faires as “Geoffrey the Bard” with my harp, while studying at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. My first harp recording that I released was Blind Mary within two years of touching a harp and I have since released, Reflections, Bygones, The Vail and many recordings that can be heard at my Apple Music site at https://music.apple.com/us/artist/geoffrey-ricketts/322660285?fbclid=IwAR2aeDO22SM0RzErRHjrJoLQsh4pXiasezFG7HPoZm9V82MR5W3cBztusGA
After University, I established a harp department for Brook Mays Music Group, one of America’s largest music retailers, in 1995. I developed a method for teaching the harp and "The Geoffrey Harp School" was born and I have gained international recognition as a harpist and teacher. In 1995 I established a harp/flute duo called "Æolian Breeze". In 1998 I began "Dream Plane", a harp centered jazz and rock group who released a CD 'Out of a Dream' in 1999. In 1999 I established my first harp ensemble “The Bardic Circle”. All of my groups have performed extensively around the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, from a reception for Miss Texas 1999 to The Shakespeare Festival of Dallas. I was harpist and singer for The P. R. Jazz Trio. In 2002 I established my second harp ensemble “The Texas Men’s Harp Ensemble”, the only all male harp orchestra in the world at the time. In 1999 I opened a music store in Bedford, Texas called Harps of Avalon. I then concentrated entirely on my harp method, composing music, acting performing and arranging. I have continued teaching harp and have been recording music as a solo artist and producer throughout the 2000s. I was the head of the band “The Circle of Peace Band” who recorded three albums and performed at clubs and festivals from 2011-2019. I has a guest appearance as a harp appraiser on A&E Storage Wars Texas season 3 episode 22. The Geoffrey Harp School is now located in Euless, Texas.
